Job Description
Mead & Hunt is a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm established in 1900, known for delivering innovative, cost-effective planning, design, and construction services across a diverse range of sectors including architecture, aviation, food and beverage processing, federal projects, transportation, and water infrastructure. The firm’s unique methodologies are aimed at elevating both clients and communities by providing top-tier service and innovative solutions. As an employee-owned company, Mead & Hunt places a strong emphasis on its culture of integrity, care, and community involvement. The company supports its workforce through flexible work arrangements and various employee-driven programs, fostering an environment where employees can thrive professionally and contribute meaningfully to the communities they serve.
The role available is for an Experienced Federal Facilities Project Manager to join Mead & Hunt at one of several office locations, including Madison (WI), West Allis (WI), De Pere (WI), Chicago (IL), or Bloomington (MN). This is a full-time position with a salary range of $130,000 to $145,000, dependent on experience, skill set, and location. The position focuses on leading project teams delivering architectural services specifically for military and federal facilities projects. The successful candidate will be entrusted with managing medium to large projects, overseeing budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation. They will also play an essential role in developing and managing client relationships to secure future business opportunities. Responsibilities include preparing proposals with detailed scope and pricing, ensuring quality control on projects, and delivering presentations to clients, partners, and authorities having jurisdiction. The role requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
Ideal candidates will hold a bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution or possess extensive military facilities experience to qualify. They will have at least seven years of relevant military facilities experience, including two years in project management, or alternatively, eleven years of relevant experience without a degree but with the requisite project management background. Preferred qualifications include professional licenses such as NCARB certification for architects or Professional Engineer (PE) accreditation. Additional certifications like LEED AP, WELL AP, or Guiding Principles Compliance Professional credentials will be advantageous.
Candidates who bring experience managing medium to large military projects, expertise in client development, proposal preparation, and quality control will be well positioned to succeed. Mentoring skills and familiarity with generative AI-driven tools—such as Microsoft Copilot, Chat GPT, Claude, or Gemini—to enhance productivity and reduce errors are also beneficial traits for applicants. Mead & Hunt values individuals with strong communication and organizational skills who demonstrate initiative and can excel both independently and collaboratively. The company offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, paid sick leave, parental leave, a 401K plan with company matching, life and disability insurance, and an employee assistance program, underscoring its commitment to employee well-being and growth. Mead & Hunt ensures equal employment opportunities without regard to race, color, religion, gender identity, or other protected statuses and is unable to sponsor visas for this position.
