The role available is a specialized position focused on the maintenance, repair, and qualification testing of advanced analytical instrumentation, specifically HPLC, UPLC, LC/MS, and LC/MS/MS systems. This full-time position operates on a Monday to Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with an opportunity to engage in overnight travel between 25 to 50 percent of the time depending on location. The salary range for this role is competitive, ranging from $90,000 to $150,000 per year, reflecting the advanced expertise required.
As a key member of the technical team, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert-level maintenance and troubleshooting for complex analytical instrumentation. This includes performing calibration and qualification tasks, recommending system improvements, and managing inventory for supplies and parts necessary to maintain instrument functionality. The role requires advanced knowledge in instrumentation and software to deliver precise and effective solutions, along with the ability to draft and revise technical documentation, such as standard operating procedures and testing protocols.
Interaction with customers and internal staff is an essential part of the role, where the candidate will provide detailed explanations of troubleshooting processes and outcomes, supporting decision-making and enhancing operational efficiency. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, electronics, or a closely related field
- Eight years of instrument/equipment troubleshooting and repair work or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Advanced knowledge of HPLC, UPLC, LC/MS and/or LC/MS/MS
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to perform calibration and qualification testing
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to draft and revise technical documentation
- Capacity to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to travel overnight 25-50% of the time
- Familiarity with applicable laws, codes, and regulations
- Proficient with computer applications and systems related to instrumentation
- Strong project management and leadership abilities
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Provides advanced to expert maintenance, diagnosis and repairs of HPLC, UPLC, LC/MS and/or LC/MS/MS
- Provides calibration and qualification of HPLC, UPLC, LC/MS and/or LC/MS/MS
- Recommends and implements improvements to HPLC, UPLC, LC/MS and/or LC/MS/MS systems
- Sources and orders supplies and parts to ensure inventory of consumables and repair parts for instruments, as needed
- Interacts with customers/staff to provide advanced to expert analytical instrument support, explanation of troubleshooting results, and solutions based on troubleshooting
- Drafts and/or revises technical documentation and documents such as standard operating procedures, calibration procedures, qualification protocols, and any other documents as needed
- Participates in cross-functional project or program objective and other project requirements, receives direction and presents information to management
