The role of a line or prep cook at Sancho's Tacos Bakersfield is critical to maintaining the high standards that the restaurant is known for. This position involves preparing food items quickly and efficiently according to strict guidelines and health standards. The cook will be responsible for setting up their cooking station, following recipes and portion controls, and ensuring that food presentation meets company specifications. Additionally, the role requires regular restocking and cleaning of the cooking station, alongside maintaining organization and sanitation in the kitchen and storage areas. The successful candidate will be expected to report food waste accurately and comply with all company policies related to health and safety. This position is part-time with 3-5 shifts per week, requiring availability for mid-shift, closing shifts, and weekends, which are mandatory. Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or over
- 3 or more years of experience in restaurant cook position
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Strong communication skills
- Must have some knowledge of knife skills
- Understanding of restaurant KDS system
- Food handlers permit required
- Standing and walking during entire shift
- Reaches, bends, stoops, lifts, shakes, stirs, pours and carries supplies
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight on a regular basis

Job Duties
- Set up cook station and prepare all food items in a timely manner according to guidelines including health and sanitation standards
- Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by Sancho's Tacos
- Restock, clean, maintain and restock cook station items as needed throughout the shift, while practicing exceptional safety, sanitation and organizational skills
- Assist with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen, walk-in coolers and all storage areas, adhering to proper food storage procedures
- Keep track of and report all food that is wasted
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and laws, including health and safety standards
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management staff
