Midwood Smokehouse is a premier barbecue restaurant located in the Park Road Shopping Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. Known for its dedication to authentic barbecue traditions, Midwood Smokehouse prides itself on preparing barbecue the right way - using no pellets, no gas, and no power outlets, just pure hardwood and hard work. Midwood Smokehouse is currently seeking an experienced Line Cook to join their team at the Park Road Shopping Center location. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for individuals with high-volume kitchen experience who are passionate about scratch cooking and authentic barbecue preparation. The Line Cook position at Midwood Smokehouse is a full-time role with a pay rate ranging from $17.00 to $20.00 per hour based on experience. Regular availability from Friday to Sunday is essential for this position.
In this role, the Line Cook will be responsible for creating mouth-watering barbecue dishes from scratch by following established recipes to ensure consistency and high-quality results. The ideal candidate will master the traditional barbecue cooking methods including smoking meats such as pork, beef, chicken, and ribs on hardwood smokers, as well as cooking other menu items on flat-top grills and fryers. Portion control, recipe adherence, and beautiful plate presentation that highlights the authenticity of the barbecue are critical aspects of daily duties.
Maintaining a clean and organized workstation and following strict sanitization and food safety guidelines are also necessary to uphold the restaurant’s standards. Midwood Smokehouse values team members who can lead by example in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment and who communicate well in English.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum two years of cooking experience in a scratch kitchen
- Experience with barbecue cooking methods preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-volume environment
- Strong attention to detail and consistency
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Flexibility to work Friday through Sunday and some holidays
- Physical ability to stand for long hours and lift heavy items
Job Qualifications
- At least two years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking
- High-volume kitchen experience
- Ability to lead a team
- Good English communication skills
- Comfortable standing for long periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Flexible to work weekends and some holidays
Job Duties
- Create mouth-watering barbecue dishes from scratch following recipes
- Master and adhere to standard barbecue cooking methods and quality standards
- Smoke a variety of meats including pork, beef, chicken, and ribs using hardwood smokers
- Cook other menu items using flat-top grill and fryers
- Portion all products accurately and ensure appealing plate presentation
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation and adhere to sanitization standards
- Follow all food handling guidelines to ensure safety and hygiene
