The position available is for Experienced Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technicians, with opportunities based in Grovetown, GA or Augusta, GA. This is a crucial role within WSP's Engineering Construction team, involving hands-on field inspections and observations related to commercial, industrial, transportation, and nuclear construction projects. The role demands a keen eye for detail, adherence to safety and project standards, and a proactive approach to collaboration with various stakeholders on site. Candidates will be responsible for conducting soil density and foundation bearing tests, performing concrete sampling and ASTM-compliant testing, and ensuring all field activities align with project plans and specifications.

In this position, daily responsibilities include preparing and submitting detailed field reports, interpreting project plans for compliance, monitoring testing procedures, and analyzing data accuracy. The role requires flexibility to work outside normal business hours as needed, along with maintaining a strong emphasis on safety and quality. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 7+ years related experience
  • ACI Field Level I certification (concrete sampling and field testing)
  • ICC soils or ICC reinforced concrete or equivalent certification is a plus
  • Valid driver's license and good driving history
  • Reliability - must be able to arrive at designated project sites prior to scheduled times
  • Ability to prepare reports and documentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required
  • Must pass physical, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company's driving (MVR) policy

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Perform soil density testing in accordance with ASTM and project specifications on site at commercial construction projects
  • Perform foundation bearing testing with dynamic cone penetrometer (DCP)
  • Perform sampling and testing of concrete in accordance with ASTM and project specifications
  • Interpret project plans and specifications for compliance with projects requirements
  • Prepare and submit written field reports summarizing daily activities/observations and density calculations and results
  • Test and work in accordance with company safety policies
  • Monitor work procedures for compliance with project specifications
  • Interact with client representatives (supervisors, foremen, project managers, engineers, etc.) at project sites
  • Perform analysis or calculations to check accuracy, applicability and reasonableness of testing data
