The Driver, Hourly CDL-A role is critical within Core-Mark’s operational framework. This position involves operating a tractor trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate routes including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight deliveries. The primary responsibility is to deliver and unload food and related products safely and punctually to customers while complying with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Drivers serve as ambassadors of the company by maintaining professional communication with customers, vendors, and colleagues to ensure efficient service. This role requires meticulous attention to safety checks such as pre-trip and post-trip inspections of tractors, trailers, and cargo to comply with DOT and company standards. The driver will perform cargo verification, manage accurate documentation, and handle product returns with care. There is a strong emphasis on operational safety to prevent hazards and damage to products while ensuring timely deliveries.

Compensation for this role is competitive, offering up to $90,000 annually. Notably, there is a $2,000 sign-on bonus for drivers who have at least one year of tractor-trailer driving experience, distributed in incremental payments after 30, 90, and 180 days of employment. The position follows a four-day workweek, with no weekend shifts, promoting work-life balance. Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Meet all state licensing or certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Attain or possess valid current DOT Health Card or be able to obtain new DOT Health Card
  • Ability to hand-lift and use two-wheeler, lift gate or other equipment to move and stack freight

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable

  • Pass road test

  • Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate or other equipment to move and stack product cases and freight

Job Duties

  • Perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations and company safety standards
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • Immediately report all safety hazards and inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Perform count check of items and verify customer invoices of loaded products
  • Move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
  • Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule and unload products into designated storage areas
  • Perform damage control checks on items, contact supervisor about order removals, verify deliveries with customer, and collect payments where required
