The Driver, Hourly CDL-A position at Core-Mark offers a rewarding opportunity for experienced commercial drivers to become vital contributors to America’s food distribution system. This role is designed for dedicated individuals responsible for safely operating tractor trailers or straight trucks to transport food and food-related products to various customers. The position offers competitive compensation that can reach up to $90,000 annually, alongside a $2,000 bonus for drivers with at least one year of tractor-trailer experience, paid in increments after 30, 90, and 180 days. Drivers benefit from a unique work schedule with a four-day work week and no weekend shifts, promoting a better work-life balance.
In this role, the driver ensures timely deliveries while complying with all applicable Department of Transportation regulations. Key responsibilities include performing required pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections, verifying freight is properly loaded and secured, conducting accurate counts and paperwork for shipments, and providing excellent customer service by communicating professionally with customers, vendors, and colleagues. The driver also handles the loading and unloading of freight, including customer returns and damaged goods, and maintains cleanliness and safety of equipment and work areas. This position necessitates a commitment to safety and compliance, ensuring all operations meet company policies and federal regulations.

Job Requirements
- high school diploma or GED
- valid CDL-A license
- minimum age of 21 years
- meet state licensing and certification requirements
- clean motor vehicle report for the past 3 years
- pass post offer drug test
- pass criminal background check
- pass road test
- possess valid DOT health card or ability to obtain one
- ability to hand-lift and use equipment for moving freight
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma/GED or equivalent

- ability to hand-lift and use equipment such as two-wheeler and lift gate to move and stack product cases and freight of varying sizes and weights
Job Duties
- perform all required safety checks including pre and post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation regulations
- inspect tractor/truck and trailer to ensure they meet company safety standards and report any needed repairs
- follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- report all safety hazards immediately and inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- perform count check of items and verify customer invoices of loaded products, accurately complete all required paperwork associated with freight
- move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
- drive and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule and unload products into designated customer storage areas
- perform damage control checks on items, scan and notify supervisor about order issues according to company policy
- verify delivery of items with customer and obtain signatures
- collect payments where required
- load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors
- ensure tractor, trailer and freight are locked and secured
- unload damaged goods and customer returns, complete necessary paperwork
- perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock, and trailer areas
- complete necessary paperwork and secure all equipment at the end of the shift
- perform other related duties as assigned
