Job Description

Performance Food Group (PFG) is a leading broadline distributor serving a diverse range of local customers, including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company is recognized for its innovative approach, combining a team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other experts who build strong, lasting relationships with clients. These professionals assist customers by offering valuable advice on improving operations, menu development, product selection, and overall operational strategies, thereby supporting the growth and success of independent restaurant owners and other foodservice clients alike.

Performance Food Group is committed to maintaining a safe and inclusive working environment that fosters a culture of rewards, recognition, and respect. The company emphasizes equal employment opportunity, ensuring nondiscriminatory practices in hiring and employment regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, marital status, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. PFG offers competitive salaries, comprehensive employee benefits, and significant growth opportunities for hard-working individuals dedicated to supporting America’s food distribution system.

This role is for a CDL-A Driver within Performance Food Group who plays an essential role in the food supply chain by ensuring efficient delivery of food and related products. The driver is responsible for operating tractor trailers or straight trucks across intrastate and interstate routes—including local deliveries, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes—to deliver products safely, timely, and in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The CDL-A Driver is the face of the company to customers and is instrumental in building and maintaining customer relationships through professional interactions.

The position requires availability Monday through Saturday with a 4-5 day workweek and offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $80,000 to $100,000. New hires receive two weeks of comprehensive training held in Temple, Texas. Additionally, a $10,000 sign-on bonus is offered, subject to terms that exclude individuals who have worked for any Performance Food Group owned company within the last six months. Employees gain access to an attractive package of benefits, including immediate health and wellness coverage from day one, an employee stock purchase plan, employer matching in a 401K plan, education assistance, paid time off, and more.

As a CDL-A Driver at PFG, your responsibilities will extend beyond safe and timely delivery. You will conduct thorough safety checks according to DOT regulations to ensure that vehicles meet company safety standards. You will manage documentation accurately, including trip logs and delivery confirmation paperwork. Problem-solving around damaged goods or customer returns and maintaining cleanliness and security of equipment and freight are vital aspects of the role. The company supports its drivers with a culture that rewards dedication, reliability, and exceptional service, all while contributing to the nation’s critical food distribution network.
