Job Description
Performance Foodservice, the broadline distributor of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading foodservice provider known for its commitment to delivering high-quality food products and exceptional service. The company maintains a distinctive relationship with a wide variety of local customers that include independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. With a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other industry experts, Performance Foodservice not only supplies delicious food products but also offers strategic advice on enhancing operations, menu development, product selection, and operational strategies to support their customers' growth and success.
Performance Foodservice is committed to fostering an inclusive, safe, and respectful working environment where all employees are valued and recognized for their contributions. The company provides competitive salaries and comprehensive benefits packages starting from day one, including health and wellness benefits, a 401K employer matching program, employee stock purchase plans, education assistance, and paid time off. There are considerable growth opportunities within the company for individuals who contribute essential services supporting America's vital food distribution network.
The CDL-A Driver role at Performance Foodservice is fundamental in maintaining the integrity and reliability of the food supply chain. Drivers are responsible for operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on various routes—intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop routes—to deliver food and related products safely and punctually to customers. This role is crucial not only for timely product delivery but also for upholding the company’s reputation by building lasting, positive relationships with customers.
CDL-A Drivers must comply fully with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, perform thorough safety inspections, and ensure that all freight is correctly loaded, secured, and delivered without damage. They are expected to communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and colleagues to address questions and concerns promptly. The position requires teamwork, adherence to company policies, and flexibility to perform additional duties as assigned. This role offers a competitive pay range from $80,000 to $100,000 annually, with additional earning potential through performance incentives of up to $2,800 annually and a $10,000 sign-on bonus subject to eligibility. The work schedule typically comprises 4-5 days per week with required availability Monday through Saturday. New hires receive two weeks of dedicated training in Temple, Texas, ensuring they are well-prepared to succeed.
This position requires candidates who are safety-conscious, experienced CDL drivers, prepared to uphold the highest standards of vehicle and freight safety, and are eager to play a pivotal role in supporting America's food distribution system while building rewarding relationships in their communities.
