The CDL-A Driver role at Performance Foodservice is a vital position within the company’s food distribution system. These drivers manage the essential task of delivering food products safely and efficiently to a wide range of customers, ensuring timely arrival and maintaining the quality of goods throughout the transportation process. As the face of the company, drivers play a critical role not only in product delivery but also in building and maintaining strong customer relationships through professional and courteous interactions. The position requires a high level of responsibility and adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Drivers will be operating tractor-trailers or straight trucks on various routes including intrastate, interstate, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight drives.
The role offers a work schedule typically spread across 4 to 5 days per week with necessary availability from Monday through Saturday, and begins with a two-week training program in Temple, Texas to ensure drivers are fully prepared for their duties. In addition, there is a $10,000 sign-on bonus available to eligible candidates, designed to attract qualified individuals who have not worked for any PFG-owned company within the last six months. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 1 year commercial driving experience
- Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- Must be 21 years of age
- Meet PFG Motor Vehicle Report requirements for past 3 years
- Pass pre-employment drug test
- Meet PFG FMCSA Clearinghouse requirements
- Pass road test
- Able to secure new DOT Medical Card
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English
- English language proficiency is required
- Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move product cases and freight ranging from 60 to 90 pounds
- Must be able to work assigned schedule including availability Monday through Saturday
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Perform all required safety checks including pre and post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation regulations
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- Perform count check of items and check customer invoices of products loaded
- Complete required paperwork associated with freight
- Ensure tractor, trailer and freight are appropriately locked and secured at all times
- Unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork
- Comply with daily record-keeping and hours of service requirements
- Uphold overall safety standards and follow guidelines for proper handling of freight
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Comply with all policies and standards
