The role of a CDL-A Driver is an essential position within Performance Foodservice, focusing on the safe and timely delivery of food and food-related products across intrastate and interstate routes. This position requires driving tractor trailers or straight trucks under various schedules, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and drive-and-drop routes. The CDL-A Driver is not only a vital link in the food supply chain but also serves as the face of the company to customers, reinforcing the brand's reputation through professionalism and reliable service.
This full-time position offers competitive pay ranging from $80,000 to $100,000 annually, complemented by a performance incentive plan that can add up to $2,800 per year based on quarterly goal attainment. Additionally, new hires are eligible for a significant $10,000 sign-on bonus, subject to terms and conditions. The job schedule typically involves working 4 to 5 days per week, with availability required Monday through Saturday, ensuring flexibility within a structured work week. The company provides comprehensive training over two weeks in Temple, TX, to equip new drivers with the necessary skills and knowledge.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma/GED
- 12+ months commercial driving experience
- valid CDL-A
- must be 21+ years of age
- meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
- pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- pass road test
- attains or has valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card
- able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift

Job Duties
- Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner
- functions as a team member within the department and organization as required and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company
- performs all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
- reports all safety issues and/or repairs required
- follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- immediately reports all safety hazards and inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of products that have been loaded
- checks and completes in an accurate and legible fashion all required paperwork associated with freight
- moves tractor to the loading dock and attaches preloaded trailer as needed
- drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
- unloads products from the trailer and transports items into designated customer storage areas
- performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contacts supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
- verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures
- collects money where required and loads customer returns onto trailer and secures trailer doors
- ensures that tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or always secured
- unloads damaged goods and customer returns and completes necessary paperwork
- completes daily record of hours of service and enters in log in accordance with federal DOT, state, and company requirements
- performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keeps trailers clear and clean
- at the end of the shift secures all equipment and completes all necessary paperwork
- performs other related duties as assigned
