The Meat Cutter position at BJ's Wholesale Club is a specialized role focused on handling fresh and processed meats with care and expertise. This role involves receiving, rotating, cutting, wrapping, and merchandising meats, including grinds, while also assisting in the merchandising of seafood, prepared foods, cheeses, and deli products. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Completion of a training program or apprenticeship required
  • Previous meat cutting experience required
  • Ability to stand and move on hard surfaces for extended periods
  • Capability to lift up to 30 pounds frequently and heavier items with assistance
  • Willingness to work in cooler environments with exposure to temperature extremes and loud noises
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Commitment to regular, predictable attendance
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation standards strictly

Job Qualifications

  • Completion of a training program or apprenticeship
  • Previous meat cutting experience
  • Knowledge of automatic or hand wrapping machines preferred
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Ability to read and understand production or financial performance reports for the department
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain a friendly and positive attitude

Job Duties

  • Receive, rotate, cut, wrap, and merchandise fresh and processed meats including grinds
  • Assist in merchandising seafood, prepared foods, cheeses, and pre-packed deli
  • Help in the rotisserie chicken area and full service deli
  • Cut special meat arrangements for members
  • Maintain all sanitation and safety standards within the meat department
  • Engage and assist members by making recommendations and answering questions about meat, poultry, and seafood
  • Prepare special cuts of meat ordered by members
  • Weigh, package, wrap, and label cuts to company packaging standards
  • Ensure meat cases showcase all products and maintain appropriate inventory levels
  • Rotate meats, poultry, seafood, prepared foods, and cheeses according to expiration dates
  • Dispose of damaged or expired products following guidelines
  • Clean and sanitize all equipment and display fixtures
  • Inspect and store meat upon delivery
  • Receive and unpack meat, poultry, seafood, prepared foods, and cheeses
  • Maintain all club policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties including placing orders and working in other departments as needed
  • Maintain regular, predictable full attendance
  • Ensure a safe and positive environment for members and team
  • Work collaboratively to achieve goals and meet GOLD member standards
