The position of Experience Guide is a part-time, non-exempt role designed for dynamic and enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about outdoor adventure and providing memorable experiences for private groups. As an Experience Guide, you will be responsible for leading small to medium-sized groups, ranging from 10 to 40 participants, on hikes or similar nature-centric activities along the scenic Open Space trails of Boulder. The typical distance covered during these experiences spans two to five miles, accommodating a moderate level of physical activity suitable for a broad range of participants. This role requires a flexible schedule, including availability during evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate private bookings and special events.
Experience Guides play a vital role in ensuring each outing is safe, educational, and enjoyable. Duties include managing group dynamics, communicating effectively, and demonstrating patience and adaptability to meet the varying needs of participants. The position is critical in emergency and inclement weather situations when a scheduled private experience necessitates the Guide’s essential presence. Candidates who thrive on interaction, possess strong leadership qualities, and have a deep appreciation for nature and environmental stewardship will find this role rewarding.
Joining Colorado Chautauqua as an Experience Guide means becoming part of a community dedicated to quality guest services and environmental education. While prior experience in hospitality or knowledge of the local history, particularly that of Colorado Chautauqua’s mission and programs, is beneficial though not mandatory, a genuine interest in these areas enhances the visitor experience. This position embodies the association’s commitment to inclusivity and encourages applicants from diverse backgrounds to apply. Applications are accepted until July 17, 2026.
Overall, the Experience Guide position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking a meaningful, part-time role that blends outdoor activity, interpersonal engagement, and community enrichment within a historically significant and culturally vibrant setting.
