Job Description
Bento is a renowned restaurant known for delivering high-quality Japanese cuisine with an emphasis on fresh ingredients, authentic flavors, and exceptional customer service. As a dynamic and fast-paced establishment, Bento prides itself on creating a welcoming atmosphere where guests can enjoy expertly prepared dishes presented with precision and care. The restaurant's commitment to maintaining culinary excellence and upholding strict health and safety standards has earned it a strong reputation in the local dining scene. The team at Bento works collaboratively to ensure every guest's dining experience is memorable, offering a balance of traditional and innovative Japanese menu selections. The environment promotes growth, skill development, and a positive workplace culture focused on teamwork and professionalism.
The role of the Expediter, commonly referred to as Expo, is central to the smooth operation of Bento’s kitchen. The Expo acts as a vital communication link between various departments, ensuring that orders are processed efficiently and that the kitchen maintains peak performance standards. This position is responsible for managing the flow of tickets in the Back of House, ensuring that food is prepared and served within the required time constraints while maintaining Bento’s high standards for temperature, presentation, and quality.
The Expediter ensures that all special orders are clearly communicated to the kitchen line and that any low inventory or unavailable items are promptly reported. A key responsibility involves plating and garnishing all dishes according to Bento’s presentation guidelines, with an emphasis on both visual appeal and cleanliness, avoiding smudges or spills. The role also includes light prep duties for the station, supporting the kitchen team in their daily tasks. The successful candidate must be adept at multitasking and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and flexibility to adapt to changing demands.
In addition to operational duties, the Expo supports training and coaching peers to meet Bento’s exacting standards. The role requires consistent communication and collaboration with all restaurant employees and management to foster a positive work environment. The Expediter participates in all training sessions, staff meetings, and deep cleaning routines, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards as set by regulatory bodies and internal policies.
The position demands physical stamina, including the ability to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive movements, and handle objects weighing up to 50 pounds. The Expediter must be able to communicate clearly with team members and guests, follow all company policies, and maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of their work area and equipment. Compliance with the ServSafe Certification program within 90 days of employment is mandatory, reflecting Bento’s commitment to food safety and sanitation.
Working at Bento as an Expediter offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a respected team where attention to detail, teamwork, and a passion for culinary excellence are highly valued. The role requires a person who thrives under pressure, is committed to delivering exceptional food experiences, and contributes positively to the restaurant's ongoing success. Join Bento and help ensure every meal served meets the highest standards of quality and guest satisfaction.
