Hilton Austin is currently seeking a motivated and experienced Executive Steward to lead their stewarding team. This role is crucial in maintaining the high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and operational efficiency that guests expect from a world-class hotel. As the Executive Steward, you will have the responsibility of overseeing all stewarding operations across the property, ensuring that every aspect, from inventory control to equipment maintenance, runs smoothly and effectively. Working in a union environment, the ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills, be exceptionally organized, and possess progressive experience in managing stewarding teams.

This is a full-time position that demands open availability, including weekends and holidays, ensuring that the hotel's kitchen and food service areas are impeccably maintained at all times. The Executive Steward plays a vital role in fostering a positive working environment, inspiring and developing team members through coaching and mentorship. This role also involves strategic responsibilities such as optimizing department costs, enforcing stringent sanitation standards, and maintaining compliance with health, safety, and alcohol awareness regulations.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience in stewarding or related hospitality operations
  • Availability to work all shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to comply with health and safety regulations
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Union experience preferred
  • Physical ability to perform job-related tasks including lifting and standing for extended periods

Job Qualifications

  • Progressive experience leading stewarding teams in a unionized environment
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of sanitation and safety standards in hospitality
  • Experience with inventory management and equipment maintenance
  • Ability to mentor and develop team members
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Job Duties

  • Oversee inventory control including the coordination, distribution, storage and maintenance of china, glassware, linen, and silver
  • Ensure proper equipment maintenance and security of all food service equipment
  • Set and enforce sanitation standards to comply with hygiene and safety regulations
  • Optimize department costs by monitoring expenses and implementing cost-saving strategies
  • Inspire and develop the stewarding team through supervision, mentoring, and performance evaluations
  • Uphold health, safety, sanitation, and alcohol awareness regulatory standards
  • Coordinate with union representatives to ensure smooth labor relations
