As a distinguished establishment in the hospitality industry, the hotel prides itself on delivering an unparalleled guest experience through meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to excellence. Known for its elegant accommodations, fine dining options, and extensive event facilities, the Boston Harbor Hotel attracts both leisure and business travelers who seek a refined and memorable stay. The hotel’s dedication to operational excellence is reflected in its rigorous standards and highly trained staff who uphold the brand’s reputation for quality and sophistication.
The Boston Harbor Hotel is currently seeking an experienced Executive Steward to join its Food and Beverage department. This is a full-time exempt position, offering an annual salary range of $80,000 to $90,000. Reporting directly to the Executive Chef, the Executive Steward plays a vital role in safeguarding the hotel’s investment in operating equipment and ensuring the efficient management of all incoming products. This position requires a proactive leader who can maintain an orderly, sanitary, and well-stocked environment across all back-of-house areas.
The Executive Steward’s primary responsibility is to protect and maximize the hotel’s resources related to equipment and supplies. This includes the accurate inventory control of all tools and materials, forecasting expenses, and managing the procurement of necessary items to support daily operations. The role demands a comprehensive understanding of stewarding operations with an emphasis on efficiency, cost control, and asset preservation. Additionally, the Executive Steward is charged with optimizing labor scheduling, ensuring the cleanliness of all service areas, and facilitating seamless support to banquet functions through timely food transport and equipment readiness.
A key component of this role is fostering a motivated and disciplined department that demonstrates enthusiasm and pride in their work while treating hotel property with care and respect. The Executive Steward will be responsible for training and developing team members from line employees to assistant managers, ensuring consistent adherence to health and safety regulations, including meeting sanitation standards mandated by the city of Boston’s health department.
This position also involves significant administrative duties such as payroll management, expense forecasting, and maintaining personnel records. The successful candidate must be well-organized and detail-oriented to manage these operational aspects effectively. The ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively with various teams across the hotel is essential to fulfilling the role successfully.
In summary, the Executive Steward at the Boston Harbor Hotel is a leadership position that combines operational stewardship with team management and quality control. Candidates with a minimum of two years of supervisory experience in food and beverage within a full-service hotel environment, preferably luxury, will thrive in this dynamic role, contributing significantly to the hotel's reputation for excellence.
