Job Description

The National WWII Museum, located in New Orleans, LA, stands as a premier historical institution dedicated to preserving and presenting the history of World War II. As a cultural landmark and educational resource, the museum attracts thousands of visitors annually who come to explore the significant events and stories of the war. Known for its extensive exhibits, immersive experiences, and commitment to honoring the legacy of those who served, the museum plays a vital role in both the local community and the broader historical landscape. The museum's culinary operations are a key aspect of its visitor experience, providing dining options that complement the educational mission with exceptional service and quality.

The Executive Steward position at The National WWII Museum is a pivotal leadership role within the Culinary Leadership Team. This role is responsible for overseeing the non-food production areas critical to the smooth operation of the kitchen, including the dish room, storage spaces, and utility areas. The Executive Steward ensures that the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and equipment care are upheld throughout these areas. Additionally, this role manages the inventory, organization, and distribution of essential banquet items such as china, silver, glassware, and linen, ensuring that both the Culinary and Banquet teams are fully supported at all times. As the leader of the Stewarding Department, the Executive Steward guides a diverse team, maintaining efficient workflow to contribute directly to outstanding food preparation and service.

This individual contributor position combines specialized technical tasks with leadership responsibilities, requiring a balance of hands-on work and team management. Collaboration with other departments is essential to meet operational needs and service goals, while also prioritizing safety and quality in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The role demands physical capability, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and flexibility with schedules that include nights, weekends, and holidays. With a salary range of $65,000 to $68,000, this position offers a competitive compensation package reflecting the candidate’s experience and skills.

Employees in this role benefit from a comprehensive work environment that values continuous improvement, operational excellence, and guest satisfaction. The Executive Steward will be part of a larger culinary and facilities management team, gaining exposure to large-scale venue operations and multi-site best practices. The position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on guest experiences and the overall success of the museum’s food and beverage operations. It also provides professional growth in a reputable institution committed to diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity employment.
