Located in Louisville, KY, the Executive Sous Chef role is based at the L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium, a dynamic venue known for hosting a variety of large-scale sporting and entertainment events. This position is a unique opportunity to lead culinary operations specifically focused on Football Dining, playing a critical role in delivering exceptional food and guest service experiences to thousands of event attendees. As the Executive Sous Chef, you will provide hands-on leadership within a small but agile kitchen team, overseeing all aspects of menu planning, program execution, and staff development. This role demands a creative culinary leader who can manage the entire catering process from the concept stage to flawless execution. You will work closely with internal teams and external clients, collaborating to customize menus based on client preferences, seasonal availability, and dietary needs while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and sanitation.
Your responsibilities will extend to managing kitchen operations within the convention center alongside supporting the Executive Chef. You will ensure consistent, high-quality food preparation and timely service for a wide array of events including large banquets, conventions, and hospitality functions. Mentoring and training the culinary team to enhance their skills, productivity, and morale is a vital component of the role. Additionally, you will be actively involved in overseeing budgetary concerns such as cost control, waste reduction, and efficient resource management.
This position is suited for an individual who thrives in a high-volume culinary environment and possesses strong organizational skills capable of managing multiple priorities under pressure. You will be expected to communicate clearly across departments to guarantee seamless event execution and delivery of an outstanding guest experience. Job Requirements
- Associate degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a related culinary role
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Availability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours
- Knowledge of health, safety, and sanitation standards
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
