The specific opportunity is located at Hyatt’s downtown Miami hotel, positioned in the vibrant Brickell neighborhood known for its trendsetting ambiance and scenic views of the Miami River. The hotel’s iconic towers offer an ideal downtown location near key landmarks such as the Miami Riverwalk, Bayfront Park, the Port of Miami, and the Kaseya Center (formerly FTX Arena). Guests and team members alike enjoy easy access to shopping at Brickell City Center and cultural hubs like Little Havana and the Frost Museum of Science.
The role available is Executive Sous Chef, a critical leadership position that works closely with and supports the Executive Chef to oversee the culinary department’s operations. The Executive Sous Chef ensures the highest standards of food quality, safety, and guest satisfaction by managing daily culinary functions and guiding the kitchen team. Responsibilities include supervising culinary supervisors, coordinating schedules, managing food production, and developing creative menus aligned with Hyatt brand standards. This role also involves special event planning, staff training, and fostering a culture of exceptional guest service and employee satisfaction.

Job Requirements
- Culinary education and/or appropriate level of on the job training and hotel culinary experience
- strong leadership skills

Job Qualifications
- In-depth skills and knowledge of all kitchen operations
- possess strong leadership, communication, organization and relationship skills
- experience with training, financial management and customer service
- proficient in general computer knowledge
- a true desire to exceed guest expectations in a fast-paced customer service environment
- capable of producing a consistent product in a timely manner
- culinary education and/or appropriate level of on the job training and hotel culinary experience
- geographic flexibility preferred
- full flexibility, including the ability to work weekends and holidays and a varied schedule
- ability to speak a second language fluently (Spanish/French) will be considered an asset (preferred but not required)
Job Duties
- Support senior leadership by developing and assuming key management responsibilities
- assume the role of liaison between all departments within the culinary division and all other hotel departments
- supervise the performance of culinary supervisors and provide them with counsel on the preparation and cooking of various food items
- develop and implement creative menu items that adhere to Hyatt brand standards
- plan, coordinate, and implement special events and holiday functions
- manage hourly kitchen employees through scheduling, payroll, training, coaching, evaluating and hiring
- lead and coach the team towards achieving exceptional guest service and employee satisfaction results
- monitor food production, ordering, cost, and quality and consistency on a daily basis ensuring financial performance and control
- ensure proper safety and sanitation of all kitchen facilities and equipment
- organize and facilitate departmental meetings, training and goal setting
