Job Description
SpaceX is a pioneering aerospace manufacturer and space transportation company founded with the visionary belief that humanity's future lies among the stars. Established to revolutionize space technology, SpaceX aims to enable human life on Mars and advance interplanetary exploration. The company is renowned for designing, manufacturing, and launching advanced rockets and spacecraft, pushing the boundaries of innovation and technology in the aerospace sector. Its mission is to reduce space transportation costs and make space access more reliable, supporting humanity’s long-term goal of becoming a multi-planetary species.
SpaceX is currently seeking an Executive Sous Chef to join its team, a critical role that directly supports the company’s success by managing multiple food service outlets. This position plays an essential part in ensuring the workforce is fueled with quality nourishment while delivering exceptional culinary experiences, especially for guests and VIP visitors. The Executive Sous Chef works closely with the executive chef, contributing creative ideas and operational excellence across various dining venues and services within the company. By overseeing consistency and quality across multiple outlets, this role helps maintain high standards important for SpaceX’s culture and reputation.
The role demands a versatile and highly skilled culinary professional who thrives in a fast-paced and innovative environment. The Executive Sous Chef is responsible for enforcing operational standards, supporting team growth and development, and ensuring safety and hygiene compliance throughout all food service areas. Additionally, this role involves coordinating special events and unique employee engagement activities that enhance the workplace culture. The ideal candidate will have a "can-do" attitude combined with extensive industry knowledge, excellent leadership abilities, and a passion for culinary excellence.
Working as an Executive Sous Chef at SpaceX offers the opportunity to be part of an extraordinary mission that extends beyond the kitchen. The role requires managing the day-to-day operations of multiple outlets and supporting the opening of new venues, with particular focus on high-end culinary experiences for VIPs. This includes budget management, training and mentoring staff, hiring and disciplinary decisions, and ensuring cost efficiencies are met. The ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team while maintaining rigorous standards is essential.
SpaceX values safety and compliance, expecting the Executive Sous Chef to uphold food safety protocols rigorously and maintain a safe working environment. Candidates must be prepared to meet physical demands, including long periods of standing, lifting, and bending, and must be available to work flexible hours, including weekends and extended shifts. This role also requires occasional travel and participation in internal leadership and development training programs.
As an employer, SpaceX is committed to equality and diversity and fosters an inclusive work environment where merit and competence are the foundation of employment decisions. The company complies with U.S. government export regulations and requires applicants to meet citizenship or residency criteria under ITAR regulations.
This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned culinary professional looking to contribute to a revolutionary company that is shaping the future of humanity in space. If you have the required experience and are ready to bring your culinary leadership to a truly out-of-this-world environment, SpaceX welcomes your application.
