The role of the Sous Chef at the Carriage House is pivotal to the success of the kitchen operations. This position demands a professional with strong culinary skill, leadership abilities, and a passion for excellence in food preparation and service. The Sous Chef supports the Chef de Cuisine in overseeing all aspects of kitchen management including supervising food production, ensuring that every dish consistently meets the Club's rigorous standards of quality and presentation. This role requires keen attention to detail and the ability to manage kitchen staff effectively while fostering a positive and efficient working environment. The Sous Chef is also entrusted with maintaining safety and hygiene practices in compliance with health regulations.
The Sous Chef acts as the second-in-command within the kitchen hierarchy and is expected to step into the head chef role when necessary, ensuring seamless kitchen operations during staffing gaps or busy periods. This position involves hands-on leadership, mentoring and training kitchen staff to maintain operational excellence and high morale. The ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume setting is critical, as is excellent time management and organizational skill. This job offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $25.00 to $27.00 plus gratuities. Job Requirements
- Prior experience in a professional kitchen
- Fine dining experience is a plus
- Ability to communicate effectively in job-related English
- Capacity to bend lift up to 50 lbs stretch and perform repetitive motions
- Strong work ethic and adaptability
- Attention to detail under pressure
- Availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
Job Qualifications
- Certification of culinary training is a plus
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role
- Strong background in a high-volume kitchen

Job Duties
- Assist the Chef de Cuisine in managing the daily kitchen operations including food production and plating
- Ensure all dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation
- Supervise kitchen staff providing guidance training and mentorship to maintain a cohesive and efficient team
- Oversee portion control presentation and timely execution of dishes during service
- Maintain kitchen safety hygiene and compliance with health regulations
- Step into the lead role in the absence of the Chef de Cuisine
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless restaurant operations
