The position available at Brandon Wilde is for an Executive Sous Chef, a hospitality-focused role crucial to the community's food and beverage services. The role comes with an annual salary range between $48,000 and $55,000. The Sous Chef will have the responsibility of assisting the kitchen staff in all service aspects and overseeing the kitchen operations in the absence of the Executive Chef. This includes planning, costing, and executing diverse menus such as seasonal cycle menus, special theme day menus, and holiday buffets. The role demands strong leadership skills to organize employee assignments, maintain work schedules, conduct performance reviews, and spearhead ongoing educational programs for the kitchen staff. Effective communication with the Executive Chef and the Food and Beverage Services Director is also vital to address operational challenges and suggest improvements. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- three years of relevant work experience
- culinary education or equivalent college coursework
- supervisory experience
- valid ServSafe certification
- ability to communicate effectively in English
- physical ability to perform kitchen duties
- willingness to undergo preemployment screening including physical, background check and drug test
- compliance with vaccination status requirements as applicable
- positive attitude and teamwork orientation
- ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
Job Qualifications
- Three years of experience in a hotel, restaurant or club with fine dining preferred
- dining room experience desirable
- culinary education or two years of college
- one year of supervisory experience
- ability to plan and organize work, interpret instructions, recipes and standards
- knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance
- some knowledge of nutrition and diet
- healthcare experience desirable
- ability to understand instructions in English, communicate effectively, perform simple arithmetic, understand measurements and conversions
- ServSafe Certified
Job Duties
- Assist the kitchen staff in all aspects of service as required
- take direction of the department in absence of the Executive Chef
- assist in planning, costing and executing all menus including seasonal, special theme day and holiday buffets
- organize and clarify all employee work assignments and schedules
- maintain work schedules for kitchen employees
- assist with annual performance reviews for kitchen employees
- support ongoing in-service education programs and lead regular meetings with kitchen staff
- inform Executive Chef and Director of Food and Beverage Services about operational issues and suggest improvements
