The Culinary Manager role at Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor is a dynamic leadership position responsible for overseeing the kitchen staff and processes in a safe, sanitary environment that adheres to all applicable standards and regulations. This full-time salaried position commands an annual salary range of $90,000 to $95,000. The Culinary Manager plays a critical role in managing procurement, production, preparation, and presentation of food for the hotel’s various dining venues, including restaurants and room service, ensuring a high-quality, consistent output aligned with the Hyatt brand standards.
Key responsibilities include managing human resources within the kitchen area to attract, retain, and motivate a skilled team, scheduling and handling maintenance and sanitation of kitchen spaces and equipment, and tightly controlling food and labor costs through effective monitoring and reporting. The Culinary Manager collaborates on menu development with the Executive Chef and may assume the Executive Chef's duties in their absence. The role also requires compliance with attendance policies and active participation in the hotel’s accident prevention programs to minimize liabilities.
The ideal candidate will have at least two years of post-secondary education preferably with culinary training, coupled with more than five years of relevant professional experience. Experience in hotel operations is highly valued, and candidates should demonstrate advanced knowledge of food and beverage management principles including labor relations, budget forecasting, marketing plans, security, and hospitality law. Strong leadership skills are essential for motivating staff and ensuring operational goals are met efficiently within deadlines. Job Requirements
- Minimum two years of post-secondary education
- At least five years of related work experience
- Culinary education preferred
- Experience in hotel operations preferred
- Strong leadership and management skills

Job Qualifications
- Two plus years of post high school education, culinary education is desirable
- Five plus years of employment in a related position
- Hotel experience preferred
- Advanced knowledge of food profession principles and practices including management of people and food beverage operations
- Knowledge of hotel operations including marketing, security and safety, labor relations, business plans, budget forecasting, quality assurance, hospitality law, and long-range planning
- Leadership skills to motivate and develop staff
- Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines
- Effective verbal and written communication skills adapting to different audiences
Job Duties
- Manage the daily production, preparation and presentation of all food for the hotel's restaurant(s) and room service to ensure a quality, consistent product
- Manage human resources in the kitchen including interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, performance and salary reviews
- Schedule and manage maintenance and sanitation of kitchen, equipment and related areas ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
- Monitor, analyze and control all labor and food costs, prepare reports and schedules to meet budget goals
- Promote accident prevention programs to minimize liabilities
- Assist the Executive Chef with menu creation, costing, and implementation
- Assume Executive Chef responsibilities in their absence
- Comply with attendance rules and maintain regular availability
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
