Job Requirements

  • Formal training through cooking school, professional culinary institute, or 2- or 4-year college degree program in hospitality or culinary arts
  • Five years demonstrated experience as a working chef with emphasis on high volume food production
  • Certified Working Chef or higher or ability for certification within six months of hire
  • Current county health department food handler's card
  • Current ServSafe certification

Job Duties

  • Assist in menu planning and preparation for the OHSU Hospital Cafe
  • Coordinate daily food preparation and presentation for the cafe
  • Assist in planning and maintaining the published 4-week menu rotation
  • Assist in planning, preparation, and coordination of high quality, nutritious patient meals
  • Schedule staff and assign duties
  • Reconcile and adjust time keeping for hourly paid employees
  • Enforce Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point food safety and sanitation program
  • Maintain cleaning and sanitation schedules
  • Work with purchasing agent to ensure adequate supplies
  • Create and modify recipes using Chef Tec and CYBORD
  • Conduct visual inspections of food storage
  • Attend weekly production meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned
