The Executive Housekeeper role at Hyatt reports directly to the hotel Rooms Director and holds critical responsibility for overseeing the entire housekeeping operation within the property. This position ensures that cleanliness standards are maintained at the highest levels across all guest rooms and public areas. The Executive Housekeeper leads efforts in staff training, scheduling, and inter-departmental communications, making sure that the housekeeping department operates smoothly and efficiently. Essential to this role is the ability to foster a positive and professional atmosphere that promotes guest satisfaction and team member engagement. Attention to detail, excellent leadership skills, and the capacity to collaborate with department heads are pivotal to success in this role.
Key duties include strategic planning for housekeeping operations, managing budgets and labor costs, and overseeing inventory control for housekeeping and laundry supplies. The Executive Housekeeper also plays a vital role in coaching employees on guest interaction, maintaining safety and security compliance, and ensuring regular inspections are conducted for quality assurance. Experience with hospitality technology, purchasing, and vendor relations is highly valued, as is the capability to work with diverse, multilingual teams. This position also requires adherence to OSHA and ADA policies, with a focus on delivering tailored services to VIP guests and those with special needs. Job Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years experience in hotel rooms management
- Previous hotel pre-opening experience preferred
- Strong leadership and motivational skills
- Excellent communication skills in verbal and written English
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to work with multicultural and multilingual staff
- Knowledge of OSHA and ADA regulations
- Experience in housekeeping operations and cost management
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills
Job Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
- 4 years or more of progressive hotel rooms management experience
- With opening hotels, previous hotel pre-opening experience preferred
- Service oriented style with professional presentations skills
- Hotel/hospitality degree an asset
- Must possess the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, effective communicator, effective in providing exceptional customer service and ability to improve the bottom line
- Clear concise written and verbal communication skills in English
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal and administrative skills
Job Duties
- Responsible for short and long term planning and the management of the hotel’s housekeeping operations
- Develop and recommend the budget, labor cost plans and objectives and manages within those approved plans
- Solid understanding of housekeeping and laundry supplies and pars
- Teach employees importance of, and how to greet guests and courteously solve guest requests
- See that inspection program is consistently maintained
- Assure all safety and security policies and procedures are followed
- Work closely with all other departments
- Inspect some rooms daily
- Experience purchasing linens and housekeeping supplies
- Current on latest housekeeping and laundry technology
- Work closely with vendors to assure proper pricing, delivery, and maintenance
- Experience teaching, supervising, and mentoring multilingual and multicultural staff
- Ensure OSHA and ADA policies are adhered to
- Experience with turndown service, special needs of VIP guests, foreign dignitaries, etc. helpful
- Insures proper staffing levels for customer service goals
- Coach and counsel employees to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures
