Job Description
The Jewish Community Center, Sonoma County (JCC SoCo) is a dynamic and inclusive nonprofit organization committed to building a vibrant community grounded in Jewish values and culture. For over three decades, JCC SoCo has served a diverse array of community members across Sonoma County by offering enriching programs that include senior services, early childhood education, film festivals, and cultural events. As an organization, JCC SoCo operates uniquely as a "community without walls," meaning it does not rely on a traditional brick-and-mortar center. Instead, it embraces a flexible model where employees work remotely when not attending on-site events. Most events and programs take place within the Santa Rosa area with occasional travel across Sonoma County. This innovative approach helps JCC SoCo reach and engage a broader audience, fostering inclusive community interaction and connection in meaningful ways.
JCC SoCo is currently seeking a motivated and highly organized Program Coordinator to support the day-to-day operations of its diverse programs and events. This role is perfect for an individual passionate about community impact and seeking hands-on experience in program administration, event coordination, and community engagement within a mission-driven nonprofit environment. The Program Coordinator will play a vital role in managing logistics, participant registration, marketing efforts, and community outreach—ensuring that all programs run smoothly and achieve their intended impact.
As the Program Coordinator, you will coordinate and execute community events from start to finish, managing everything from initial planning and logistics to on-site execution and post-event follow-up. A key responsibility is overseeing the registration and membership processes using organizational tools and the JCC SoCo website to provide participants with a seamless experience. You will also assist in creating marketing and promotional materials—such as flyers, email campaigns, and social media content—to raise awareness and drive participation across target audiences.
The role requires proactive outreach strategies, as you’ll work closely with community partners and directly engage potential participants to grow the organization’s membership and expand event attendance. Communication is a cornerstone of this position, involving regularly drafting newsletters, program updates, and sponsor communications to keep the wider community informed and engaged. Coordination with external venues, sponsors, and partners before, during, and after events is also essential to deliver successful programs.
This position offers an opportunity to actively contribute to the vitality and inclusivity of Sonoma County’s Jewish and broader community through meaningful program delivery. Individuals with strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to equity and community service will thrive in this role. Occasional evening and weekend availability is required to support events across Sonoma County, along with a valid California driver’s license and reliable transportation for regular local travel. Physical capability to lift and carry materials up to 30 pounds is also necessary for event setup and teardown.
JCC SoCo values diversity and encourages applicants from all backgrounds and experience levels, including recent graduates and those transitioning into the nonprofit sector. The salary for this position is under $25,000, offering an excellent stepping stone for individuals eager to develop their careers in nonprofit program coordination and community development while making a real difference in Sonoma County.
