Job Description
Sunshine Behavioral Health is a compassionate and innovative behavioral health treatment center dedicated to providing exceptional care and support for individuals facing substance use and mental health challenges. Established on the belief that real change starts with meaningful connection, the organization strives to deliver hope, empowerment, and the opportunity for personal growth to every individual who walks through their doors. At Sunshine Behavioral Health, the mission is clear: to accompany clients through their recovery journey with unwavering support, ensuring they feel valued and believed in throughout the process. This commitment to client-centered care has earned the organization a respected reputation for helping transform lives repeatedly. The team at Sunshine Behavioral Health is passionate and purpose-driven, approaching each day with a deep sense of responsibility and dedication to both the tough moments and the quiet victories their clients achieve. They work tirelessly to strengthen and uplift individuals until those clients are capable of advocating for themselves with confidence and resilience.
The organization is expanding its footprint with a new location in Ephrata, PA, under the name Keystone Retreat Behavioral Health, where they intend to bring the same exceptional standard of care and transformative support services. The Executive Director at this new location will play a pivotal role in advancing the mission and vision of Sunshine Behavioral Health by providing strategic and operational leadership. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations, this senior management position will oversee critical departments including nursing, clinical services, and overall operations, working closely with the Directors of Nursing, Clinical Director, and Operations Director. The Executive Director is expected to foster a work culture characterized by excellence, stability, and continuous improvement, emphasizing compassion, accountability, and client-centered services.
This role involves leading strategic planning efforts that are aligned with the organization's long-term objectives and ensuring compliance with all relevant Joint Commission, state, and federal regulations in collaboration with the compliance team. The Executive Director is responsible for managing day-to-day operations, budgeting, resource allocation, and ensuring the highest quality of care is delivered efficiently and effectively. They play a key role in driving occupancy growth and enhancing the client experience, while supervising and supporting senior leadership to promote professional development and peak performance. Maintaining the facility and grounds and building strong external partnerships are also essential responsibilities.
Ideal candidates will bring senior leadership experience in behavioral health or healthcare settings, possess strong skills in program development, strategic planning, fiscal management, contract negotiation, and regulatory compliance. A master’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or behavioral health is preferred, though a bachelor’s degree with substantial leadership experience is the minimum requirement. The candidate must demonstrate ethical and transparent leadership capabilities, superior organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively and foster community relationships. This position offers the opportunity to lead with impact, shape a new facility’s future, and contribute meaningfully to improving lives in the community. Benefits include paid time off, health and dental insurance, life insurance, performance bonuses, and retirement plans, making this a rewarding and supportive employment opportunity.
