Job Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree
  • minimum of 5 years non-profit management experience
  • proven fundraising and endowment management experience
  • proficiency in environmental education
  • excellent communication and public speaking skills
  • strong organizational and project management capabilities
  • collaborative work skills
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
  • experience with point-of-sale systems and donor software preferred
  • valid driver's license
  • personal transportation

Job Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in business, non-profit leadership, education, environmental science, or related field
  • minimum of 5 years non-profit management or similar experience
  • proven success in fundraising campaigns, organizational and event planning
  • experience in endowment management
  • proficiency in environmental education and knowledge of trends in nature center practices
  • excellent interpersonal communication skills with diverse stakeholders
  • strong verbal, written, and public speaking abilities
  • demonstrated organizational and project management skills
  • ability to work collaboratively with partners, team members, volunteers, and community groups
  • creative planning and idea generation skills
  • proficient with Microsoft Office 365
  • experience with point-of-sale systems, virtual meeting hosting, and donor management software preferred
  • valid driver's license and personal transportation

Job Duties

  • Develop and manage the center's strategic direction in collaboration with the board of directors
  • maintain and strengthen donor relationships, identify and attract new donors, update donor management software, process donations, and maintain donor correspondence
  • identify, write, secure, and report on grants for educational, conservation, and research programs
  • serve as the main public relations contact and primary advocate, compose newsletters, post announcements, and make public presentations
  • supervise five full-time education program delivery staff
  • plan and coordinate the annual Wings Over the Wetland fundraiser, including messaging, donor appeal, and sponsorships
  • maintain current partnerships and seek new research opportunities focused on water quality, educational programs, and wildlife conservation
  • oversee all financial operations including deposits, expense reports, investment strategies, tax and audit preparation, financial reporting, and revenue software
  • coordinate facility management and rentals with partner organizations and internal teams
