Job Description
The American Red Cross is a mission-driven humanitarian organization renowned for its commitment to alleviating human suffering in the face of emergencies. As the world’s largest humanitarian network, it offers a unique environment where employees contribute to meaningful causes that have a profound impact on individuals and communities. The organization operates through a network of volunteers and professionals who provide disaster relief, support military families, offer health and safety training, and participate in blood donation services throughout the United States and beyond. The culture at the American Red Cross is grounded in compassion, diversity, and unity, striving to preserve dignity and foster resilience in the communities it serves.
This position, based in the Louisville, Kentucky office and working Monday through Friday, provides complex administrative support to a specialized department, group, or program within the organization. The role is critical in ensuring the smooth functioning of daily operations, handling a variety of administrative tasks including report preparation, correspondence management, and project administration. Employees in this role serve as liaisons internally and externally, supporting collaboration and communication across organizational boundaries. The position demands a high level of proficiency in administrative processes, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
As a member of the American Red Cross team, you will experience a career path that balances meaningful impact with professional growth. The organization offers a supportive environment where mentorship and development are prioritized, and where your efforts contribute directly to the charitable mission. Candidates will find an inclusive workplace culture that values each individual’s contributions both in and out of the workplace.
The responsibilities include creating reports, managing complex databases, preparing high-level presentations, and potentially overseeing special projects or intra-department initiatives. The position requires initiative, the ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively, and strong communications skills. Candidates who demonstrate problem-solving abilities and can manage high-level regional projects will excel. Additionally, the role supports volunteer coordination and leadership guidance, further emphasizing its integral position within the operations of the American Red Cross.
Compensation is competitive and the role is not eligible for relocation assistance. While the work environment is a standard business office setting, it also demands frequent use of computer and software tools, and the physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting up to 30 pounds occasionally and sitting for extended periods. The organization invests in employee well-being by offering an extensive benefits package, supporting a healthy work-life balance. If you are ready to become a force for good and make a tangible difference through your career, this administrative role at the American Red Cross offers a fulfilling opportunity to do so.
