Job Description

The role being offered is a senior, embedded communications leader position within the Office of the CEO. This is a hybrid employment opportunity that requires some in-office presence based on the CEO’s schedule, along with the flexibility to travel to support executive engagements, conferences, and key events. The successful candidate will be accountable for shaping and owning the CEO’s voice, messaging, and strategic communications across varying audiences and platforms. This position calls for a high-judgment, tactful advisor who can proactively craft executive narratives, collaborate across internal communications, philanthropy, and external affairs teams, and maintain narrative coherence during high-pressure situations.
As a central figure in CEO communications, the leader will establish and steward the CEO’s narrative and message architecture, ensuring consistency, clarity, and maximum impact in every communication. They will serve as the primary drafting and synthesis resource for CEO-facing communications including speeches, remarks, memos, scripts, op-eds, and materials for board meetings. The role demands expertise in advising the CEO and Chief of Staff on tone, voice, positioning, and narrative strategy. Additionally, the position involves close partnership with communications and philanthropy teams to prepare the CEO for media interviews, public appearances, and stakeholder engagements. Working with Internal Communications, the leader will also help shape messaging that strengthens organizational culture, alignment, and clarity on enterprise-wide priorities.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in English Communications or a related field
- Master’s degree strongly preferred
- 10+ years of experience in executive communications speechwriting or advisory roles ideally supporting a CEO or other senior public leader
- Deep experience translating complex healthcare research or policy topics for diverse audiences
- Strong data-informed storytelling skills and comfort using operational and policy data in narrative form
- Exceptional writing editing and strategic framing abilities
- High discretion with strong political judgment and emotional intelligence
- Ability to shape a consistent core narrative while tailoring it to resonate with different audiences based on stakeholder insights
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams and stakeholders
- Strong relationship-building and executive influence skills

Job Duties
- Establish and steward the CEO narrative and message architecture ensuring consistency clarity and impact across all communications
- Serve as the primary drafting and synthesis engine for CEO-facing communications in close partnership with external internal and philanthropy communications teams
- Advise the CEO and Chief of Staff on language tone positioning and narrative strategy
- Create and own high-stakes content including remarks speeches memos scripts op-eds and support CEO communications for board meetings
- Partner closely with communications and philanthropy teams to prepare the CEO for media interviews public appearances and high-profile donor and stakeholder engagements
- Work with internal communications to shape CEO engagement and communications for internal audiences strengthening alignment culture and enterprise-wide clarity on priorities
