Job Description
This exciting San Francisco-based upscale restaurant is seeking a visionary Executive Chef who will play a pivotal role in shaping the culinary concept and driving the kitchen operations to new heights. Led by a seasoned hospitality team with established roots in acclaimed Bay Area restaurants, the restaurant is supported by a community-focused ownership group that prioritizes creating a chef-driven yet approachable downtown dining destination. This establishment combines culinary excellence with warm, inviting hospitality to deliver a memorable dining experience that appeals to a diverse clientele seeking innovation and quality.
The Executive Chef position offers an exceptional opportunity to influence the culinary direction from the ground up, build a strong and talented kitchen team, and contribute to the restaurant’s long-term identity within the San Francisco dining scene. The role entails full leadership of menu development, daily kitchen management, and ensuring operational excellence throughout every service. With competitive compensation ranging from $120,000 to $140,000 annually plus bonuses, this position promises both financial reward and professional growth. The restaurant fosters a dynamic and collaborative environment where creativity meets discipline and hospitality is paramount.
The role involves overseeing all aspects of a busy, chef-driven kitchen including leading the creation of seasonal and craveable dishes that balance classic technique with creative innovation. You will be responsible for recruitment, training, and mentoring of a skilled culinary team, including sous chefs and pastry collaborators. Establishing and maintaining high standards for kitchen systems, operational procedures, cleanliness, and communication is critical to supporting quality food production and excellent service execution. The Executive Chef will also handle the coordination of both à la carte dining and substantial private events, requiring strong organization and consistency.
As a key partner with ownership and front-of-house leadership, the Executive Chef will help shape the restaurant’s culture, hospitality standards, and service philosophy, ensuring a cohesive team environment and exceptional guest experiences. This leadership role is perfect for a positive, professional culinary leader with a passion for hospitality and a collaborative kitchen atmosphere that nurtures talent and team development. The restaurant provides a strong benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage, retirement planning options, paid time off, staff meals, dining discounts, and more.
Joining this team means becoming part of a community-oriented dining concept that values chef creativity, operational excellence, and memorable hospitality. The Executive Chef will have a significant impact on a high-volume, fine dining operation poised for success and growth in a competitive market. If you have a proven track record of leading upscale kitchens, inspiring teams, and delivering craveable dishes that guests love, this role offers a vibrant opportunity to elevate your career in a thriving culinary environment.
