Civitas Senior Living invites passionate culinary professionals to join their team as an Executive Chef. This role is not just about preparing meals but about crafting memorable dining experiences for senior residents that enhance their quality of life. The Executive Chef will lead and inspire a culinary team to uphold the highest standards of food quality, safety, presentation, and customer satisfaction. The position requires someone who is a strong leader, an innovative culinary artist, and a detail-oriented manager who is skilled in overseeing food cost control, inventory management, and budget adherence.

The Executive Chef will be instrumental in creating a kitchen culture that prioritizes accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. They will be responsible for hiring, training, and developing kitchen staff, ensuring all culinary operations comply with state dietary regulations and food safety standards. Collaboration with the broader team to plan menus, special events, and resident-focused dining initiatives will be a key part of their responsibilities. This role also plays a significant part in community engagement, using food and hospitality to build connection and elevate the senior living experience.

Ideal candidates will bring 5 to 10 years of kitchen leadership experience, preferably within senior living, healthcare, or restaurant environments. They will have demonstrated success managing high-volume kitchen operations and maintaining rigorous standards for food quality and sanitation. The ability to develop menus that balance flavor, nutrition, and cost is essential, as is familiarity with special dietary needs including low sodium, diabetic, and heart-healthy diets. A hands-on leadership approach is expected, with the Executive Chef actively engaged during meal service to mentor and support their team.

Job Requirements

  • 2+ years of culinary experience (culinary training preferred)
  • At least 1 year of leadership experience (2+ years in food service management preferred)
  • Knowledge of state dietary regulations and food safety standards
  • A genuine passion for serving seniors and enhancing their dining experience

Job Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of kitchen leadership experience
  • Background in senior living, healthcare, or restaurant environments
  • Experience managing high-volume kitchen operations
  • Strong standards for food quality, consistency, and presentation
  • Solid understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Current ServSafe Manager Certification
  • Experience with menu development balancing flavor, nutrition, and cost
  • Familiarity with special diets (low sodium, diabetic, heart-healthy)
  • Proven labor management and scheduling skills
  • Strong inventory control and cost management experience
  • Ability to train, coach, and develop kitchen staff
  • Hands-on leadership presence during service
