Provincial Senior Living is currently seeking a qualified Executive Chef to join their team. This full-time position is crucial in leading the culinary operations within the community, overseeing both kitchen and dining room functions. The Executive Chef will assist kitchen and restaurant staff across multiple stations, ensuring smooth back and front of house operations. Key responsibilities include planning, preparing, and executing special events such as banquets and theme meals, all while utilizing innovation and originality to develop exciting menus and recipes. Maintaining budgetary control over food and labor, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards are vital elements of the role.

The Executive Chef manages every aspect of the culinary department—from hiring and training staff to performance management and scheduling. Close collaboration with the Executive Director and administrative staff to maintain high customer satisfaction scores and health department compliance is essential. This role requires a proactive and hands-on management style, with an emphasis on training and mentoring kitchen staff to uphold the company’s quality and presentation standards. The Executive Chef also collaborates with marketing and activities teams to plan unique resident events and ensures that any special dietary needs are accommodated.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Minimum five years experience as an Executive Chef
  • Current ServSafe Certification
  • Proven leadership and management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to develop creative menus and manage budgets
  • Experience in food safety and kitchen operations

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts preferred
  • Associate degree with equivalent work experience considered
  • Minimum five years experience as an Executive Chef in hospitality industry
  • Current ServSafe Certification

Job Duties

  • Assist kitchen and restaurant staff with back and front of the house operations as needed
  • Assist in planning, preparation, and execution of special events, banquets, and theme meals
  • Use innovation, imagination, originality, and talent to produce menus and recipes that utilize the highest quality ingredients allowed within budget
  • Understand and maintain monthly and annual budgets for food and beverage department, including documentation of monthly spend
  • Review and adjust menus to accommodate seasonal ingredients, supply chain shortages, and cost increases
  • Ensure purchasing standards are maintained and approved vendors are used
  • Maintain strong relationships with all vendors
  • Accurately report and submit monthly inventory of food and beverage supplies
  • Interview, hire and train culinary and food and beverage staff
  • Manage and supervise culinary and food and beverage staff including scheduling, performance review, hiring and corrective action
  • Work with executive and administrative staff to maintain customer satisfaction and health survey scores
  • Ensure preventive maintenance programs for kitchen equipment
  • Ensure dietary needs and restrictions are met
  • Confirm food policies are practiced by kitchen staff
  • Manage control of food preparation and minimize waste
  • Oversee accurate daily records
  • Provide ongoing training of kitchen staff
  • Ensure front and back of house staff work closely to deliver excellent food products
  • Work with marketing and activities staff to coordinate unique events
  • Meet regularly with residents and family to confirm satisfaction
  • Advise management of any resident-related concerns
