The Executive Chef at HumanGood plays a pivotal role in shaping the culinary experience across its communities. This full-time position offers an annual salary range of $102,000 to $125,000, dependent on experience, reflecting the organization's commitment to attracting top culinary talent. The Executive Chef leads all culinary production and kitchen operations, ensuring every meal meets high standards of safety, quality, taste, and presentation. They collaborate closely with the Director of Dining Services to maintain hospitality-centered dining experiences that enhance resident satisfaction at multiple levels of care.

The role requires a hands-on leader who can supervise kitchen staff effectively while also engaging directly in meal preparation and service as needed. Responsibilities include managing inventory, controlling labor and budget, and ensuring adherence to sanitation guidelines and food safety regulations. The Executive Chef also steers menu execution and works to continuously improve dining through resident feedback and disciplined operational processes. Special emphasis is placed on training, coaching, and developing culinary team members to uphold HumanGood’s culinary standards and commitment to excellence.

This position is suited for an experienced culinary professional, preferably with a culinary degree and several years of management experience in high-volume food production or catering environments, ideally within healthcare or senior living contexts. The Executive Chef must be proficient with food safety certifications such as ServSafe Food Protection Manager and hold a deep understanding of HACCP principles and commercial kitchen safety. Additionally, familiarity with menu software, ordering platforms, and business applications is essential for operational efficiency.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current ServSafe Food Protection Manager or Food Handler certification or ability to obtain
  • Minimum three years experience in culinary management or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to manage inventory and control labor costs
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments
  • Proficiency with basic computer programs and food service software
  • Availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Lead daily culinary production and kitchen operations to ensure meal quality and safety
  • Establish and reinforce food quality standards, including taste, freshness, and presentation
  • Supervise, schedule, train, coach, and evaluate culinary and kitchen team members
  • Provide hands-on culinary leadership during meal periods, special events, and staffing shortages
  • Plan and organize daily production, including recipe scaling and kitchen workflow coordination
  • Partner with Director of Dining Services on menu execution, purchasing, inventory, labor planning, and budget adherence
  • Collaborate with dining room leadership to ensure seamless service and special request accommodation
