Job Description
Bon Appetit Management Company is a leading foodservice company dedicated to delivering exceptional culinary experiences with a focus on great food and outstanding service. Unlike traditional corporate foodservice companies, Bon Appetit prioritizes creativity and innovation by empowering its chefs and managers to stay ahead of current culinary trends and create unique menus without relying on standardized recipes or central commissaries. This approach allows the company to provide fresh and inventive food options across its various dining locations. Bon Appetit operates primarily in contract food service, which means it partners with institutions such as universities, businesses, and other organizations to manage their food service operations while maintaining high standards of culinary excellence and customer satisfaction. The company strongly supports employee growth and development, encouraging staff to try new techniques, learn continuously, and pursue career advancement opportunities. This vibrant culture has contributed to Bon Appetit's rapid growth and the breadth of accounts they serve, opening exciting career paths for culinary professionals looking to make an impact in foodservice.
The Executive Chef position at Bon Appetit, based at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), offers a unique opportunity to lead the culinary operations within one of America's most creative and dynamic educational environments. The role involves overseeing kitchen operations, driving culinary excellence, and ensuring exceptional quality and service throughout SCAD's dining and catering programs. The Executive Chef will be responsible for managing all aspects of back-of-house operations, from food production to menu development, staff training, and compliance with safety standards. Leading a high-volume kitchen, the individual will also be expected to infuse innovation into menus, foster a motivated culinary team, and collaborate with campus leadership to enhance the overall dining experience.
This full-time position offers a competitive salary in the range of $75,000 to $85,000 per year and is eligible for an employee referral bonus, highlighting the company's commitment to building a strong and talented team. The Executive Chef role demands a passionate and innovative culinary leader with 3 to 5 years of progressive culinary leadership experience in high-volume foodservice or hospitality settings, along with a strong understanding of current culinary trends, catering operations, sanitation, and cost control measures. Proficiency with computer systems including Microsoft Office and Outlook is also desirable. Located in the culturally rich city of Savannah, Georgia, SCAD provides an inspiring setting for culinary professionals eager to bring fresh ideas to campus dining and grow their careers within a prestigious academic institution.
In addition to competitive pay, Bon Appetit offers an extensive range of benefits to support the health and well-being of its associates. These include medical, dental, and vision insurance, life and disability coverage, retirement plans, paid time off, holiday time off, and wellness programs. Flexibility is also prioritized with programs such as paid parental leave, personal leave, and commuter benefits. Bon Appetit maintains a drug-free workplace and adheres to equal opportunity employment policies, ensuring that all applicants and employees are treated fairly and with respect regardless of race, gender, age, disability, or other protected characteristics. The company also complies with relevant background screening and labor laws across jurisdictions, promoting a safe, inclusive, and supportive work environment for all associates.
Joining Bon Appetit as an Executive Chef at SCAD means becoming part of a company that values creativity and culinary excellence while supporting professional growth and leadership in foodservice management. Candidates will have the freedom to experiment with new culinary ideas, participate in special events and catering programs, and play a key role in shaping a memorable dining experience for a diverse and vibrant campus community. This position is ideal for culinary professionals who thrive in fast-paced, high-volume kitchens and seek to elevate their careers within a company that is passionate about food and service excellence.
