Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2-3 years kitchen management experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain Food Handler's certification
- Proficiency with MS Office software
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to manage and mentor a culinary team
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to work flexible, event-driven schedules including nights and weekends
- Professional appearance
- Ability to maintain positive employee relations
- Experience with budgeting and cost controls
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 2-3 years kitchen management experience in a full-service restaurant or events venue
- Demonstrated and verifiable track record of meeting projected costs
- Professional appearance and presentation
- Proficient in computer software including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Current Food Handler's card and applicable alcohol service permit
- Knowledge of employee scheduling in a hospitality environment
- Certification or ability to obtain certification in nationally recognized sanitation program
- Strong technical knowledge of food preparation methods
- Effective interpersonal skills with diverse personalities
- Excellent listening and communication skills
- Ability to train, evaluate, motivate, coach, and counsel staff
- Skilled in problem-solving and decision-making
- Detail-oriented with ability to multitask and prioritize
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Availability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
Job Duties
- Manage, develop, and mentor a culinary staff of 35 full-time and part-time employees
- Initiate employment actions such as hiring, firing, and discipline
- Provide ongoing training and mentoring to event staff
- Ensure budgeted food costs are achieved through effective control measures
- Control labor costs by scheduling and cross-training kitchen staff
- Develop and maintain menus ensuring quality and consistency
- Oversee food preparation to meet recipe specifications, portion control, and kitchen timings
- Supervise line set-up, prep, and breakdown activities
- Coordinate kitchen equipment maintenance and repairs
- Manage catered service delivery and set-up
- Organize staff skills training and new employee orientation
- Maintain compliant and positive employee relations
- Staff evaluation, training, and counseling
- Promote effective communication and teamwork among kitchen and front of house staff
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and employment regulations
- Maintain kitchen records including food inventories and invoicing
- Organize employee schedules and enforce uniform policies
- Ensure timely and nutritious staff meals
- Lead by example with professionalism and constructive feedback
