About the Establishment: This esteemed restaurant in Washington, DC, is a well-respected, MICHELIN-recognized dining establishment celebrated for its authentic, Hong Kong-inspired cuisine. The restaurant is distinguished by its innovative interpretations of traditional Hong Kong street food, dim sum, and classic Chinese dishes, attracting both local food enthusiasts and international visitors. As part of a growing and dynamic restaurant group, it prides itself on culinary excellence, high hospitality standards, and creating memorable dining experiences that highlight the rich flavors of modern Cantonese cuisine. The team is committed to maintaining a top-tier kitchen environment where creativity meets precision, always aiming to reflect the vibrant and bustling food culture of Hong Kong in every dish.
About the Role: The Executive Chef position represents a unique leadership opportunity for an experienced culinary professional deeply versed in modern Chinese and Cantonese culinary traditions. This role demands not only technical mastery of classic and contemporary Hong Kong cuisine but also strong operational capabilities, including overseeing all kitchen functions, financial responsibilities, and team development. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in dim sum preparation, wok cookery, and family-style dining, combined with the ability to innovate menu offerings while honoring authentic Hong Kong culinary methods. This leadership role goes beyond the kitchen to encompass managing vendor relationships, optimizing costs, and collaborating strategically with ownership to drive growth and operational excellence. The restaurant values Mandarin or Cantonese language skills and experience living or working in Hong Kong as highly advantageous, underscoring its commitment to authenticity and cultural depth.
The Executive Chef will be entrusted with full ownership of kitchen operations, ensuring that consistency, quality, and hospitality remain at the forefront of every service. Financial stewardship is key, with responsibility for P&L management, labor costs, inventory systems, and cost control measures integral to operational success. Alongside these duties, the chef will lead and mentor the back-of-house team, cultivating high performance and professional development. This role offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, performance-based bonus potential, and comprehensive benefits including healthcare, vision, and dental insurance largely employer-paid. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates, reflecting the company's dedication to attracting top-tier talent. Furthermore, this opportunity is ideal for chefs looking to further their career within a respected and expanding restaurant group, offering significant growth potential and exposure in a prestigious culinary environment.
