Job Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited Culinary Arts program preferred
- Five years’ experience as Executive Chef or Food Service Director preferred
- One year Banquet Director or Manager experience preferred
- Restaurant or Senior Living kitchen management and menu development experience preferred
- Hospitality experience in high volume environments preferred
- Food Protection Manager Certification preferred
- Point of Sale experience preferred
- Full adherence to CRISTA’s Christian beliefs and community policies
- Ability to pass relevant background and compliance checks
- Washington State Food Handler’s Permit required
- Serve Safe certification or ability to obtain within 60 days
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Commitment to spiritual growth and Christian values
- Demonstrated integrity, servanthood, excellence, and teamwork
- Ability to manage budgets, inventory, and regulatory compliance
- Skilled in menu development and food safety adherence

- Minimum 2 years’ experience as Executive Chef or Food Service Director within Senior Living
- Knowledge of kitchen and dining operations, budgeting, meal planning, menus
- Experience with Washington State Assisted Living food service compliance
- Minimum 5 years cooking with raw ingredients
- 1 year large group or event catering experience
- Full knowledge of job-related equipment and safe operation
- Washington State Food Handler’s Permit
- Serve Safe certificate or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Able to read, write, and comprehend instructions
- Able to present information effectively
- Knowledge of essential food cost controls
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- English comprehension in reading, writing and verbal communication
- Ability to pass background checks related to DSHS Secretary’s List of Crimes and Negative Actions
Job Duties
- Oversee and manage the daily food service activities to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and nutritional needs are met
- Train employees in food standards and best practices for ordering food and kitchen supplies
- Develop and implement cross-training and provide leadership and mentorship to kitchen and dining staff
- Oversee the Sous Chef, Lead Servers, servers, and cooks
- Interview, hire, train, schedule, evaluate and discipline employees
- Develop menus focusing on quality food for customer satisfaction
- Ensure staff take all required rest and meal periods according to policy and laws
- Change the menu cycle to accommodate seasonal variation and vendor pricing
- Develop and implement systems for inventory management and vendor product quality assurance
- Work with administration and staff on special projects and catering events
- Prepare the annual Food Services budget
- Serve as conduit for communication and ensure staff tools for success
- Ensure cooks and dining staff follow HIPAA regulations
- Monitor compliance with food code regulations
- Oversee training and continuing education for kitchen staff
- Provide budget management and accountability
- Conduct annual evaluations for all food service staff
- Participate in the Leadership team representing Food Services department
- Perform nutritional assessments, care planning, progress evaluation related to residents
- Order food supplies and respond quickly to resident needs
- Create and test new recipes focusing on nutrition, taste, and quality
- Maintain high sanitation and equipment standards
- Purchase food supplies, products, equipment and services from vendors
- Attend team menu meetings
- Track and ensure food handlers’ card compliance
- Audit department services and prepare reports
- Communicate continuously for staff growth
- Adhere to CRISTA dress codes
- Record and file food logs, sanitation logs, and inventory
- Participate in Quality Improvement programs
- Collaborate with supervisor, coworkers, staff and residents
- Perform other related duties as assigned
