The Executive Chef role at Chartwells K12 is an exciting leadership opportunity for a passionate and energetic culinary professional who thrives in a dynamic foodservice environment. The Executive Chef will oversee the daily kitchen operations within school dining facilities, ensuring that all meals are prepared to high standards of quality, safety, and sanitation. This position requires strong operational management skills, menu planning expertise, and a hands-on approach to culinary preparations according to corporate programs and guidelines. The Executive Chef's duties encompass planning both regular and modified menus that comply with established nutritional and programmatic guidelines, following standardized recipes, portion control, and presentation specifications. The role also includes maintaining kitchen cleanliness and adhering to designated cleaning schedules, managing inventory of food and supplies efficiently to minimize waste while ensuring availability, and making decisions regarding leftover food utilization within company policies. Job Requirements

- 5+ years of progressive culinary or kitchen management experience
- hands-on chef experience
- comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends
- proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office applications
- willingness to participate in client satisfaction programs
- compliance with health and safety regulations
- ServSafe certification preferred
Job Qualifications

- 5+ years of progressive culinary or kitchen management experience depending on formal degree or training
- extensive catering experience is a plus
- experience in high volume, complex foodservice operations is highly desirable
- institutional and batch cooking experience
- hands-on chef experience
- comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends focusing on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
- proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, email and internet
- willingness to participate in client satisfaction programs
- ServSafe certification is highly desirable
Job Duties
- plan regular and modified menus according to established guidelines
- follow standardized recipes, portioning and presentation standards
- complete and utilize daily production worksheets and waste log sheets
- train kitchen staff in food preparation, safe handling, operation of equipment, food safety and sanitation based on company and regulatory standards
- establish and maintain cleaning and maintenance schedules for equipment, storage and work areas
- maintain inventory of food and non-food supplies to stay within established guidelines
- make all decisions regarding utilization of leftover food products staying within company guidelines
- comply with federal, state and local health and sanitation regulations
- follow facility, department, and company safety policies and procedures including occurrence reporting
- participate and attend departmental meetings, staff development, and professional programs
