The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing high-volume, complex foodservice operations and possess a comprehensive understanding of food trends, production techniques, sanitation standards, food cost controls, and presentation. The Executive Chef will collaborate closely with campus partners and internal teams to ensure the delivery of fresh, nutritious, and appealing meals that meet both corporate guidelines and the diverse tastes of the college community.
This role offers a competitive salary ranging from $90,000 to $95,000, along with bonus eligibility. It requires a hands-on leader who is adept in both culinary expertise and operational management. The Executive Chef will engage in menu design according to established guidelines, oversee daily kitchen workflows including production worksheets and waste logs, and maintain product quality through regular tastings. As a mentor and trainer, the Executive Chef will develop kitchen staff on food preparation techniques, food safety, and the proper use of equipment, fostering a safe and sanitary work environment. Additionally, the Executive Chef will manage inventory effectively, make decisions regarding leftover food utilization, and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal health and sanitation regulations through regular audits.
This role demands strong organizational skills, a passion for food innovation, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The Executive Chef at Chartwells Higher Education is not only a culinary leader but also a vital contributor to the campus community, playing a key role in enhancing the student experience through inspired food service.
