Alongside its renowned amenities, Park Hyatt Aviara hosts the Ember & Rye, a distinguished Richard Blais steakhouse overlooking the 18th green of the Aviara Golf Club. The restaurant offers a casual yet elegant vintage clubhouse ambiance where guests can enjoy top-tier steaks and fresh seafood dishes crafted from the finest local ingredients.

The role of Executive Chef at Ember & Rye is a pivotal leadership position responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations. The Executive Chef will guide menu development, manage provisioning, oversee food preparation, and ensure the highest standards of sanitation across the culinary team. This role requires someone who is innovative, detail-oriented, and capable of upholding Hyatt’s renowned commitment to quality and service. The Executive Chef will direct culinary staff training to promote consistency in food preparation, presentation, and safety, ensuring an efficient and profitable dining experience. Key responsibilities include instilling rigorous safety and sanitation habits, coaching staff to meet Hyatt service standards, and maintaining strict portion control and plate presentation criteria. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, flexibility, and the resilience to thrive in a dynamic kitchen environment. This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary range of $95,000 to $115,000, commensurate with experience and education. Job Requirements

  • minimum six years of culinary experience in a hotel setting
  • previous leadership experience in a senior culinary role
  • experience with pre-opening hotel operations preferred
  • strong communication and organizational skills
  • proficiency in English written and verbal communication
  • proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • ability to motivate and lead a culinary team
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation best practices
  • flexibility to work long hours

Job Qualifications

  • demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
  • six years or more of progressive hotel culinary experience, typically with Hyatt
  • previous hotel pre-opening experience preferred
  • service oriented style with professional presentation skills
  • at least four years experience in a senior culinary role
  • proven leadership skills
  • strengths including high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leadership, effective communication, exceptional customer service, associate relations skills, and ability to improve the bottom line
  • clear concise written and verbal communication skills in English
  • proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • excellent organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills
  • ability to coach and counsel employees to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures
