The Executive Chef role in the Houston, TX area represents a crucial leadership position at Compass Group USA. Reporting directly to a Resident District Manager, this role involves overseeing culinary operations to ensure exceptional food quality, consistency, and presentation. The Executive Chef will lead, mentor, and develop a talented culinary team through hands-on coaching and extensive training. This position demands a passion for culinary excellence combined with strong leadership skills to inspire collaboration and creativity within the kitchen environment. Key responsibilities include managing menu planning, recipe development, and quality control to deliver innovative and high-quality dining experiences that exceed expectations. Job Requirements

  • a.S. degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of progressive culinary/kitchen management experience
  • extensive catering experience a plus
  • hands-on chef experience
  • comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends
  • proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • ServSafe certification highly desirable
  • ability to participate in client satisfaction programs
  • compliance with health and sanitation regulations
  • strong leadership and team development skills

Job Qualifications

  • A.S. degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of progressive culinary or kitchen management experience
  • extensive catering experience a plus
  • high volume, complex foodservice operations experience highly desirable
  • hands-on chef experience
  • comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends focused on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
  • proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, e-mail and internet
  • ServSafe certified highly desirable
  • willing to participate in client satisfaction programs and activities

Job Duties

  • Plan regular and modified menus according to established guidelines
  • follow standardized recipes, portioning and presentation standards
  • complete and utilize daily production worksheets and waste log sheets
  • taste completed meals to ensure quality
  • train kitchen staff in food preparation, safe handling, operation of equipment, food safety and sanitation
  • establish and maintain cleaning and maintenance schedules for equipment, storage and work areas
  • ensure kitchen staff follows and completes schedules as assigned
