The current opportunity is for a Catering Chef at Angelo State University, located in San Angelo, Texas. This is a full-time position with an annual salary range of $70,000 to $75,000, reflecting the importance and responsibility of this role within the culinary team. As a Catering Chef, you will play a pivotal role in supporting and overseeing the culinary functions of the catering program on campus. Your responsibilities will include assisting with all phases of menu planning, inventory management, ordering, and food preparation. This role requires adherence to the client’s culture and operational guidelines, health department regulations, and company standards to ensure food quality, safety, freshness, and presentation are always maintained at the highest level.
In addition to food preparation, the Catering Chef is instrumental in motivating, training, and developing culinary team members. You will help direct the back-of-house associates to ensure that all food items for catered events are prepared to meet or exceed expectations. This role demands a strong knowledge of culinary trends, cost control measures, sanitation, safety procedures, and production efficiency. Collaboration is key as you will work closely with the marketing and culinary teams to roll out new culinary programs and cater menus that appeal to diverse tastes and dietary requirements.

Job Requirements
- Five years of related culinary experience including catering
- Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, health care, or related food service operations
- Ability to set up and distribute production sheets
- Supervisory, leadership, training, management, and coaching skills
- Computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products including Excel
- ServSafe or Department of Health certification is preferred
- Associate's degree in Culinary Arts is preferred
Job Qualifications
- Five years of related culinary experience including catering

Job Duties
- Assists in coordinating and participating in the preparation and cooking of various food items for catered events
- Assists with planning and creating catering menus
- Rolls out new culinary programs in conjunction with the marketing and culinary team
- Assists with managing cost controls and controlling expenditure
- Performs other duties as assigned
