Job Requirements
- Culinary Arts degree from a recognized institution
- Minimum two years experience as Executive Chef or Assistant Executive Chef
- Five years experience in kitchen work in medium to large organizations
- Over two years experience managing food service personnel
- Current ServSafe certification
- Ability to manage budgets and control food costs
- Strong knowledge of special diets and senior nutrition
- Ability to comply with health and safety regulations
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
Job Qualifications
- Experience and/or knowledge of special diets and meal preparation for large groups
- Culinary Arts degree from recognized school
- Two years related experience as an Executive Chef or Assistant Executive Chef in comparable size food service operation
- Five years experience in kitchen work in medium to large organizations
- Over two years experience in hiring, training and managing food service personnel
- Experience executing culinary techniques including menu design, food preparation and artistic food design
- Knowledge of culinary terminology
- Ability to operate computer equipment for data entry and retrieval
- Current ServSafe certificate
Job Duties
- Plan, test and assess cost of new menus and menu items
- Clean and supervise the cleaning of the overall work area, equipment and utensils
- Maintain sanitation standards in accordance with the Department of Health
- Function as the lead worker over cooks and other food service personnel engaged in preparation, cooking, and serving of food
- Participate in interviewing and selection of food service personnel
- Responsible for personnel actions including hiring, termination, promotion, discipline, as well as layoff and recall
- Schedule and reschedule staff using independent judgment and exercising discretion
- Read and understand financial performance and results and adjust activities accordingly
- Responsible for purchasing and maintaining inventory of food products and kitchen supplies
- Take month-end inventory and extend totals accurately
- Inspect quality and quantity of items when delivered
