This position is for an Executive Chef 4 role at Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH), specifically at the York Street Campus in New Haven, CT. The position is a senior culinary leadership role within the healthcare sector, designed to combine strategic management with frontline culinary oversight. The Executive Chef 4 will lead culinary operations that serve both patient and retail dining services, overseeing a complex, high-volume foodservice environment. This role requires approximately 80% administrative duties and 20% hands-on culinary involvement.
The Executive Chef 4 will be responsible for leading a large team of up to 100 unionized employees, managing food quality, safety, and operational efficiency while maintaining compliance with all relevant regulatory standards such as HACCP, ServSafe, and the Joint Commission. The role demands strong leadership skills to manage within a union environment, with preference given to candidates with experience in large unions like 1199. This position requires proactive engagement in budget management, food and labor cost control, inventory oversight, procurement, and contract compliance to ensure the financial performance of the culinary operations.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of administrative leadership experience in healthcare culinary operations
- Proven experience managing large, unionized teams (1199 experience strongly preferred)
- Demonstrated success leading multi-level teams
- Strong background in high-volume food service operations
- Expertise in food safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance
