Job Description

Sodexo is a global leader in quality of life services, providing innovative food service, catering, facilities management, and other integrated solutions worldwide. The company is committed to creating a better everyday for everyone by improving the quality of life for the people and communities it serves. Sodexo partners with a wide range of clients, including healthcare institutions, to deliver exceptional and memorable experiences for both customers and employees. The organization values diversity and inclusion, fostering a respectful environment where everyone is treated fairly and encouraged to bring their authentic selves to work. Equal employment opportunity is a core principle at Sodexo, ensuring an inclusive workplace for all individuals regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, gender identity, pregnancy, disability, sexual orientation, military or veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.

At Sodexo, we believe that food plays a vital role in patient recovery and satisfaction, especially within healthcare settings where nutrition directly impacts outcomes. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Chef 4 to lead the culinary operations at Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH), York Street Campus, located in New Haven, CT. This senior culinary leadership position requires a strategic, detail-oriented professional who can deliver operational excellence in a complex, high-volume healthcare environment. The role is approximately 80% administrative and 20% hands-on culinary leadership, combining strong management skills with frontline involvement.

As the Executive Chef 4, you will oversee culinary services for both patient and retail dining, leading a dedicated team of up to 100 union employees. You will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of food quality, safety, and operational efficiency while fostering a positive work culture that promotes team engagement and growth. Your expertise in regulatory compliance, including HACCP, ServSafe, and Joint Commission standards, will be critical to ensuring safe and consistent food service. In this leadership capacity, you will effectively manage within a unionized environment, ideally with experience handling large union teams such as 1199, which is strongly preferred.

Financial stewardship is a key aspect of this role, requiring oversight of food and labor costs, inventory, procurement, and contract compliance. You will work closely with hospital leadership and cross-functional teams to align culinary operations with strategic goals and improve patient and retail dining experiences. The position offers an opportunity for a long-term commitment to help evolve and grow Sodexo's culinary program at YNHH.

Compensation is fair and equitable, determined partly by education level, years of relevant experience, skills, and training. Sodexo also provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision care, wellness programs, a 401(k) plan with matching contributions, paid time off, company holidays, career growth opportunities, and tuition reimbursement. More detailed benefits information is provided to new employees after hire.

Joining Sodexo means becoming part of a global organization that prioritizes quality, inclusivity, and the personal and professional development of its employees. The Executive Chef 4 role offers an exciting opportunity to lead culinary operations at one of the nation’s leading healthcare facilities while making a meaningful impact on patient and employee satisfaction through exceptional food service.
