The Executive Chef 3 position at Waco ISD offers a unique leadership opportunity within Sodexo’s educational sector. This role is central to enhancing culinary operations by overseeing food quality, menu compliance, and culinary training across multiple schools within the district. The Executive Chef will be responsible for managing the culinary team and ensuring adherence to Sodexo and USDA culinary standards, which includes recipe compliance and maintaining strict food safety and sanitation requirements. Additionally, this role involves managing purchasing, inventory, food cost analysis, and food production to maximize operational efficiency and budgetary control.
Beyond daily culinary management, the Executive Chef will oversee catering functions within Waco ISD and Sodexo’s neighboring K-12 accounts, playing a vital role in event planning and execution. The role also demands creativity and innovation in developing culinary promotions designed to increase student meal participation, thereby supporting the district’s nutritional objectives and enhancing the overall dining experience.
With an emphasis on leadership, the Executive Chef will mentor and develop frontline hourly-paid staff to foster a motivated, skilled culinary team capable of delivering exceptional food service. This includes hands-on coaching, employee development, and cultivating a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

Job Requirements
- bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- minimum 3 years management experience
- minimum 3 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.

Job Duties
- be responsible for purchasing, menu compliance, inventory, food cost analysis and food production
- oversee the PrimeroEdge food management system for multiple units
- menu development
- ensure Sodexo and USDA culinary standards including recipe compliance are food quality are implemented and maintained
- oversee catering functions within Waco ISD and Sodexo’s neighboring K-12 accounts
- motivate, coach, mentor and develop frontline hourly-paid staff
- provide stellar customer/client service
- ensure food safety, sanitation and workplace safety standard compliance
- have working knowledge of automated food inventory, ordering, production and management systems
