The Executive Chef 3 role at Augusta University Medical Center represents a dynamic opportunity for culinary professionals passionate about high-quality food production and innovative menu creation within a healthcare setting. This executive position involves leading a team of 15-20 associates responsible for managing all back-of-house activities across various service lines including patient meals, retail dining, and catering events. The Executive Chef ensures culinary excellence through overseeing food production, staff development, inventory and purchasing management, and the implementation of company policies and quality standards.
As a high-volume, fast-paced environment, Augusta University Medical Center requires an Executive Chef with a strong culinary background coupled with leadership expertise. The ideal candidate will be adept at menu planning, staying abreast of current food trends, and employing strong human resource skills to inspire and engage their culinary team. This role demands strategic oversight of food cost control, forecasting, and operational efficiency while maintaining exceptional food safety and quality standards.
In addition to operational duties, the Executive Chef will spearhead enhancements in retail and catering services by developing innovative menus tailored to client needs and elevating customer satisfaction. Oversight of food safety audits, procurement activities, and compliance with physical safety training are essential components of daily responsibilities. Job Requirements
- bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- three years management experience
- three years work experience in food or culinary services such as restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts
- experience overseeing patient tray line
- experience with food monitoring systems, audits, implementation and standardization of menus
- ability to conduct food and physical safety training
- experience conducting audits and developing action plans
- knowledge of procurement and vendor collaboration
- proven ability to standardize catering and banquet services
- ability to implement retail food innovations
Job Qualifications
- bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- minimum three years management experience
- minimum three years functional experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts
- strong culinary background
- demonstrated ability to stay current with new culinary trends
- excellent leadership and communication skills
- strong management skills
- experience in high-volume food facility
- high-end catering and dining experience
- hands-on menu planning experience
- effective communication skills with multiple audiences
- strong understanding of forecasting, food cost management, purchasing, inventory and labor management concepts
