Job Description

SodexoMAGIC is a dynamic joint venture partnership between NBA Hall of Famer Earvin "Magic" Johnson and Sodexo, Inc., a global leader in food services and facilities management. SodexoMAGIC is currently seeking an Executive Chef 2 for the Morehouse College account located in the Atlanta metro area. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead culinary operations within a prestigious educational environment, contributing directly to the wellbeing and satisfaction of students, faculty, and staff. The Executive Chef 2 will be responsible for managing a resident dining and catering operation, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and service are consistently met. This position demands a talented culinarian who excels in both high-volume and high-end cuisine, supported by exceptional organizational and leadership skills.

The ideal candidate will be actively engaged on the floor during service times, effectively communicating with the campus community to foster positive dining experiences. You will oversee purchasing, menu compliance, inventory management, and food cost analysis, while forecasting food production to optimize resources and minimize waste. A critical part of the role involves enforcing Sodexo Culinary standards, including strict recipe compliance and maintaining food quality at every meal service.

In addition to technical culinary skills, the Executive Chef 2 must be a motivating leader who inspires their team to embrace culinary innovation and continuously develop their skills. Maintaining food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards is paramount, along with possessing a working knowledge of automated food inventory, ordering, production, and management systems. Job Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years of management experience
  • Minimum 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, or mall food courts

Job Duties

  • Be responsible for purchasing, menu compliance, inventory, food cost analysis and food production forecasting
  • Ensure Sodexo Culinary standards including recipe compliance and food quality are implemented
  • Have the ability and willingness to develop and motivate team members to embrace culinary innovations
  • Ensure food safety, sanitation and workplace safety standard compliance
  • Have working knowledge of automated food inventory, ordering, production and management systems
  • Actively communicate with students, faculty, and staff during service times to provide excellent customer engagement
  • Manage a resident dining and catering operation effectively
