Job Description

Sodexo is a global leader in food services and facilities management, dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of the communities it serves. With an extensive presence across various sectors including education, healthcare, corporate, and government, Sodexo provides comprehensive solutions that blend culinary excellence with operational expertise. Their services encompass everything from on-site dining to catering, environmental services, and workplace experience innovations. Focused on creating memorable culinary experiences and fostering sustainable practices, Sodexo is not only a service provider but a partner dedicated to improving well-being and performance for clients and consumers alike.

Currently, Sodexo is seeking a passionate and innovative Catering Executive Chef 2 to join the team at The University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB), an institution recognized internationally for its commitment to health, education, and community engagement. UAB is distinguished as the first Health Promoting University in the United States, boasting a dynamic urban campus that promotes wellness and inclusivity among its students, faculty, and staff. The campus dining program is expansive and diverse, including several retail dining outlets, high-end catering services, and residential dining venues. Sodexo's partnership with UAB reflects a shared vision of creativity, innovation, and an outstanding culinary experience.

The Catering Executive Chef 2 role is designed for an energetic culinary professional with a fine dining background who is ready to take a leading role in elevating UAB's catering operations. Reporting directly to the Campus Executive Chef, this position entails comprehensive oversight of all catering culinary aspects, including menu planning, food ordering, inventory management, recipe standardization, and ensuring strict adherence to food safety protocols. This leadership role requires a balance of hands-on cooking and strategic team mentorship. The ideal candidate will inspire frontline team members by fostering a strong sense of ownership in their work while actively supporting their professional development, thereby cultivating a robust talent pipeline within the culinary department.

Sustainability and client collaboration are key components of this position. The Catering Executive Chef 2 will champion sustainable culinary practices and collaborate closely with clients to design customized menus that meet diverse tastes and dietary requirements. Expertise in managing food costs, conducting food cost analysis, and forecasting production needs will be essential to ensure operational efficiency and culinary excellence. Additionally, experience with automated inventory, ordering, and production management systems is highly valued.

Sodexo offers a fair and equitable compensation structure linked to candidates' experience, education, and skills, combined with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision care, wellness programs, a 401(k) plan with matching contributions, paid time off, company holidays, career growth opportunities, and tuition reimbursement. Sodexo's inclusive culture emphasizes respect, diversity, and equal opportunity, ensuring all employees feel valued and empowered to contribute their unique ideas and talents.

For culinary professionals eager to influence health and wellness positively on a vibrant university campus, this role provides an outstanding platform for career advancement and personal growth within a globally respected organization known for its commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainability.
